For Narnia... CHARGE!!!

This weekend my family, along with my cousin and her family traveled to Kansas City for a small getaway vacation. We drove up Friday afternoon and checked into our lovely hotel. When it comes to weekend getaways and my family, we try to dine at only the finest restaurants. Thus, Cheesecake Factory is always on our minds. Really, it's just we're on a mission to eat every kind of cheesecake they offer. Brian and I shared the Cookie Dough Cheesecake and I can report to you that... WOW, we loved it! After dinner, we all went back to our lovely hotel and the kids got to swim. We all ended in the same room so the kids could play together before we headed to our room and turned in for the evening. Our purpose for going to Kansas City was to take the kids to Union Station. The Chronicles of Narnia exhibit was currently showing and we couldn't pass this opportunity to get up close and personal with the movie that Logan, Alyssa and Bram absolutely love. They had actual sets, costumes, etc. from the movies. Check out the pictures below! After leaving and getting lost a few times, we ended up on The Legends, an outdoor outlet mall. It was packed with people and rainy while we were there. You never really know who you're gonna run into at a popular tourist location, and wouldn't you know we ran into some friends. First, was Brian's latchkey co-director and his family. Then we ran into Brady Morningstar. (See earlier post below). I introduced him to my family and he was so nice shaking hands with shy Bram and Alyssa. Logan could of cared less. He wanted to keep throwing pennies in the fountain. All in all, it was a great trip. I bought some clothes for our upcoming European vacation, but I really enjoyed watching Logan having fun with his family!

Logan's $7 Bike

A couple of weeks ago, Brian, Logan, Moses and I headed down to Oklahoma City to spend the weekend with my cousin Brian and his family. Twice a year at this church in Edmond, they have a kids consignment sale. This year we found a great deal... Logan's first bicycle and it only cost us $7. Before I could pay for it, he was outside in the parking lot riding it with Brian. It turned out to be a fun weekend with Brian, Stephanie and Evan... not to mention that Moses and Sampson had fun playing together too. It's been awhile since we got the pups together! I can't wait for the next sale to see what we can find.

Tonsillectomy Blues

Well, my persistence has paid off and my doctor finally realized that my tonsils just had to go! My surgery was back on February 10th, and if it wasn't for Brian's Mom coming in to help out with me, the house and Logan, then who knows where we'd be right now. I'm back at work after taking 10 days off for my tonsillectomy. This surgery was very painful in the fact that I couldn't swallow hardly anything but lukewarm water. I lost 8 pounds from the surgery, but when you can't eat for 12 days or so, that will happen. Before I had my tonsillectomy, my good friends Michele and Tim took me up to KU to watch their nephew Brady Morningstar play. We had a great time and the 'sleep over' at the Morningstar's house was very fun, even though I kept cheating at pool. I got to meet Sherron Collins and Tyrel Reed this time, but it's my Brady that I like seeing. I'll post a few pictures and when I organize some of the new pictures of Logan, I'll get them posted right away to. Until next time, go JAYHAWKS!

New Year's Resolution

Okay, so I'm very bad at this blogging stuff - but my New Year's resolution is to get better at posting stories at least once a week. Okay, maybe posting something every 2 weeks. Who are we kidding? To get everyone up to speed on the AraSmith household... Thanksgiving was great. Ate way to much and enjoyed some family time and shopping time. Christmas came and went and we had such a great time watching Logan open up presents. He finally understands that the box isn't the gift, but what's inside the box. I'm excited because Brian and I got something totally awesome for each other for Christmas. What you ask? Tickets to Europe! Move over Clark Griswald, here come the AraSmith's. I'll explain more later, but I'm including a few pictures with this post. As you may or may not notice, I recently cut my hair off. 8 inches to be exact. I do miss the hair, but I'm loving the freedom I have with this cut. Take care and God bless.

Logan's Gymnastics

We enrolled Logan in gymnastics or as Logan calls it, nastics and things are going pretty well for him, or should I say Brian and I... We're the ones who seem to get the workout! Logan has only been 3 times so far. His class meets every Tuesday night and it's for ages 12 months - 3 years. The tots start off by taking roll and doing silly stretches with the instructor. Logan loves doing the bear crawl and donkey kick. We then march in line to the Dalmatian room where it's filled with different apparatuses. Usually, the room is set up like an obstacle course with a balance beam, trampoline, uneven bars - all kid size and safe I might add. But Logan's absolute favorite is the zip line into the big foam pit. He loves it and could do this all night long if he could! I've added a picture of Logan zipping down the line and I hope to get video of it up soon. If gymnastics don't work out, there's always swimming - after all it worked for Michael Phelps!

Logan Turns 2!

We celebrated Logan's birthday on Labor Day this year. Lots of family and friends came over for the BBQ and party. Logan had a blast with everything and everyone. His new cousin, baby Rocky (born 8.28.08) came over, plus his other cousins (Kyle, Ryan, Alyssa and Bram). Although Logan opened plenty of gifts, the package of M&M's from Uncle Chad and Aunt Shannon had to take the top prize! Brian and I got him a Little Tikes pedal car, but it was the John Deer Gator given by Aunt Tessa, Matt, Uncle Tyler, Lauren and Papa Rocky that has Logan out every night driving around the cul-de-sac. It was a good time had by all and Brian and I are very blessed to have the best family and friends in our lives.
